Lane is a cowboy who
is originally from the Midwest. He grew up raising and showing
beef and dairy cattle with his uncles and dad. He moved to Utah
in 2000 and finished out high school. Lane had always wanted to
get into horses but his dad would always say I just can't
stand dealing with those arrogant horse people. Lane served
a two year mission in Washington DC, West Virginia, and Maryland
for his church and when he returned home in 2004 he made the decision
to start training horses.
Knowing that at 21 years old he was way behind
in his knowledge and experience with horses he still decided to
follow his dream. He would muck stalls for free just to get advice
from horse trainers. He read every book and watched every video
he could find and eventually found himself at Buffalo Ranch in
Farmington, Utah. Lane says that working 30 horses a day wasn't
easy but he loved every minute of it.
One day while working, one of his spur rowels
came off and so he took it home and put it on his dresser as a
reminder of all the hard work he put into his dream of being a
horse trainer. Then he got the idea to tie some leather lace through
it and gave it to a girlfriend. His sisters and mom were extremely
jealous so Lane had to make one for each of them and ever since
then Lane has been making spur rowel jewelry. Every now and then
he will lose a rowel and put it into his jewelry. He and his extremely
sweet wife Katie reside here in Sanpete County where he continues
to train horses on his own.
Lane hopes that every one who wears his jewelry
will look at the rowel seeing the cowboy heritage, and also think
of the hard work that comes with following your dreams.
